The Junior High Lady Pirates were on the road to Balmorhea Monday, November 28th, to play the Lady Bears. The Bears jumped out to a six to nothing lead in the first couple of minutes of the game but the Lady Pirates came back and were trailing by one at halftime.  READ MORE

The Valentine Pirates hosted their 68th Annual Basketball Tournament on Saturday, November 19th. It was bittersweet as the Pirates were not represented for the first time ever as far as anyone can remember, but we hope to have a girl's team in the tournament next year and for several years to come.  READ MORE

I expected some fans to leave a donation at the door on the way out of the gym Monday November 14th following the Junior High girl's game with the Marfa Shorthorns. Valentine might be the only school in Texas that does not charge admission to sporting events but the fans certainly "got their money's worth" Monday evening as the Lady Pirates forced the Lady Shorthorns into two overtimes before the Shorthorns finally came out on top with a score of 18 to 16.  READ MORE

The Junior High Lady Pirates started off their basketball season with a bang on Tuesday, November 8th with a victory over the Sierra Blanca Vaqueros in Sierra Blanca. The Vaqueros handed the Pirates their worst defeat of the season last year when they beat the Pirates 32-11.   READ MORE

My First/Second grade class is currently studying about Dia de Los Muertos in Social Studies. We read the children's book, The Spirit of Tio Fernando, El espiritu de tio Fernando, which is written in Spanish and English. It relates a day in the life of Fernando and how his family prepares to celebrate el Dia de Los Muertos.

How 'bout them Pirates! The Junior High Lady Pirates closed out their first volleyball season in the past eight years with a big win over the 7th Grade Wink Wildcats. The Pirates came away winning two of the three matches in Wink on Tuesday, October 25th.   READ MORE
