The Valentine Junior High Pirates girl's team were in Van Horn Thursday evening, March 9th for the Van Horn Eagles Junior High Relays. The Pirates finished in 7th place overall behind Alpine, Presidio, Van Horn, Wink and district 9A schools, Marfa and Balmorhea.

The Junior High Lady Pirates were on the road to Balmorhea Monday, November 28th, to play the Lady Bears. The Bears jumped out to a six to nothing lead in the first couple of minutes of the game but the Lady Pirates came back and were trailing by one at halftime.  READ MORE

The Valentine Pirates hosted their 68th Annual Basketball Tournament on Saturday, November 19th. It was bittersweet as the Pirates were not represented for the first time ever as far as anyone can remember, but we hope to have a girl's team in the tournament next year and for several years to come.  READ MORE

My First/Second grade class is currently studying about Dia de Los Muertos in Social Studies. We read the children's book, The Spirit of Tio Fernando, El espiritu de tio Fernando, which is written in Spanish and English. It relates a day in the life of Fernando and how his family prepares to celebrate el Dia de Los Muertos.

This Homecoming week has been pretty busy for the high school, especially the Student Council. They have been planning a float for quite some time, trying to figure out what they were going to do and how they were going to do it. The high school went to Fort Stockton, Texas on Thursday, October 7 for their annual College Day Fair. This is Valentine ISD’s second year going and it is very evident through what the kids say how important it really is. This year it was very important for the seniors especially as application processes at most colleges, such as Texas Tech University, are already in full swing.  READ MORE
