Valentine ISD is very close to celebrating the annual Spirit Week tradition. According to Evan Hall, StuCo President, the days have already been decided by Student Council. Spirit Day will begin on Monday (October 9).
Evan Hall says, “StuCo has had fun planning Spirit Week, now we have to work on the possibility of a float. We hope everyone has fun and enjoys the days we have planned out, and most of all I hope everyone has a memorable Homecoming.”
Former Pirates themselves are able to remember the Spirit Week adventures and their favorite days as well.
Lorraine Rojas, graduate of Valentine, says, “I remember everyone being so excited to see what the days were going to end up being. Everyone had their favorites and non favorites. The boys never liked gender switch day, but the girls got pretty in to it. Mine personally was Pajama day. Homecoming was always a blast, with the dance and coronation. Ahhh... memories.”
According to Evan Hall the Spirit Week days will go as follows:
Monday: Hawaiian Day
Tuesday: Tough Enough to Wear Pink Day
Wednesday: Gender Switch Day
Thursday: Pajama Day
Friday: Spirit Day
On the topic, it is a bittersweet moment for Senior, Jessie Garcia, as she enjoys her last Spirit Week and Homecoming as a Pirate.
She says, “I regret those times where I refused to participate in one of the Spirit Week days because I thought it was a dumb theme. I wish I had taken it all in. Now that this is my last Spirit Week it's sad, and I hope I can come up with costumes or something to participate in all days. Word of advice for the young kids. NEVER think too highly of yourself to the point where you don't participate in something fun in Valentine, because bluntly, it sucks when it comes to be your last one.”
